As birthdays come and go, I am always someone who values a well-rounded party. That includes good friends, food, drinks and music. Costumes are an added bonus to me, so this year I decided to dedicate my theme to reliving the 1980’s. 80’s babies are always nostalgic for this decade, maybe because we were only in diapers when the rest of the world was getting away with crazy clothes and hair.
I set my sights on the iconic 80’s punk, and with some lovely inspiration from the exhibit PUNK: Chaos to Couture, I was excited to employ the DIY techniques onto a leather jacket I thrifted.
Once I removed the sleeves, I used one of the cuffs to fashion a little leather wristband (embellished with more chains and safety pins of course).
On a parallel track, I also wanted to personalize some of the party decorations. I printed some popular lyrics from 80’s songs to help adorn the table setting.
I’m extremely lucky to have such fun friends that were willing to dress up and celebrate with me! Here are just a few of the many wonderful shots taken that night:
