Kill Bill: Vol. 1 Cosplay

Honoring the yellow-haired warrior's birthday, Tarantino muse Uma Thurman, I'm pleased to share a (frankly much overdue) post of my Kill Bill costume from last Halloween. Behold!

The Beatrix Costume

Unsurprisingly, this costume has a lot of detail and complexity involved, especially considering I wanted to go for the motorcycle outfit from Beatrix Kiddo's ride in Tokyo before the big showdown with O-Ren and the Crazy 88 in Vol 1. Included in the costume are the motorcycle jacket (complete with patches, thanks ebay) Pussy Wagon keychain, Buck's Elvis glasses (a trophy), yellow black-striped pants, budget yellow "Onitsuka Tiger" sneakers, and cosplay sword in the style of the legendary Hattori Hanzo.

Costume Process

I couldn't find a *decently* priced yellow faux leather jacket, so I decided to paint one myself. It didn't turn out too bad! I used marine vinyl paint, which is the kind of stuff one would use on car seats, thus allowing a little flexibility when the paint dries. Watch the magic unfold! After the rather long painting process, I sewed black striping detail on the sleeves and added the padding (craft foam covered in yellow fabric) with the patches. The shoes are a pretty basic brand of sneaker that I painted with black acrylic paint. One of my favorite pieces was actually a last-minute item, the beloved Pussy Wagon key chain (also a trophy Beatrix kept from Buck). I had some leftover craft foam that I carved, embossed lettering on, and painted with acrylic. Simple, but it tied it all together.
